The Birth of Baba Car Rentals
Aloha! Baba Car Rentals is a veteran- and family-owned, licensed car rental company serving Oahu from Ewa Beach, Hawaii.
In 2013, during our PCS move to Hawaiʻi, we found ourselves facing the same challenges as so many other service members and encountered overwhelming out-of-pocket expenses. We just needed some wheels to check into our new units, head to the commissary, and start getting our housing in order. The cheapest rental available was a brand-new Jeep Wrangler from a national rental agency. It cost us nearly $700 a week. That’s when we realized there must be others in the same boat—people who didn’t need the flashiest car, just something reliable and affordable.
Why the name Baba Car Rentals?
In our family, we call each other "Baba." It’s a simple word, but to us, it carries the meaning of love, connection, and responsibility. We live by ohana (family). Yes, we specialize in affordable long-term car rentals for 30+ days. Our monthly rates are highly competitive and start at $750+ for drivers 25+.
I am PCSing to Hawaii. Can I rent while waiting for my POV?
Absolutely. We offer flexible, military-friendly car rentals specifically designed for service members waiting for their POV to arrive on island.
What is the minimum driver age?
We rent to drivers 18 years old and up, with age-based pricing tiers for 18-20, 21-24, and 25+.
What forms of payment do you accept?
No cash. We accept only major bank-issued debit and credit cards in the primary renter's name. A major credit card is not required.
Can I use my personal auto insurance?
Yes. Provide a declarations page showing collision and comprehensive coverage with $1,000 or less deductibles and no additional CDW fees apply. With only an insurance card, a $15/day CDW may apply.

Because our inventory rotates constantly, we cannot guarantee a specific color or body style (sedan vs. hatchback), but you will always receive a reliable Nissan Versa.
Is there a mileage limit?
Yes, we have a 1,500-mile cap per 30-day rental period — plenty for everyday driving plus weekend island exploring. The limit protects our commercial insurance policy by preventing rideshare and food-delivery use (Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, etc.), which breaches our rental agreement.
Do your cars have tracking devices?
Yes, for the safety of our fleet and our customers, our vehicles are equipped with GPS tracking devices.
How do I know if I have a reservation?
After submitting a request, a team member will reach out to confirm your details. You do not have a reservation until you receive a formal reservation number from us.
